Privacy Policy for Word Search Quest

Introduction
BetterApps (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Word Search Quest mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
We do NOT collect, store, or share any personal information.
Word Search Quest is designed with privacy in mind:
- No user accounts required
- No registration needed
- No personal data collected
- No user-generated content
- No social features
The App collects minimal anonymous technical information through third-party services to improve performance, stability, and user experience:
- Crash Reports: Device model, OS version, app state at the time of a crash, and stack traces. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly.
- Analytics Events: Anonymous gameplay events (e.g., puzzles completed, features used), session duration, device type, and country (derived from IP address — IP itself is not stored). This helps us understand how players use the app and improve the experience.
- Push Notification Tokens: A device identifier used solely to deliver push notifications you have opted into. This token does not identify you personally.
- Advertising Data: Anonymous identifiers used to serve child-appropriate, non-personalized ads.
No personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number, precise location) is collected by any of these services.
Permissions Used
The App requests the following permissions:
- INTERNET
- Purpose: To display advertisements, report crashes, send analytics, and receive push notifications
- Your choice: Required for the app to function
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS
- Purpose: To send daily puzzle reminders, streak alerts, and gameplay rewards (e.g., free coins)
- Your choice: You are asked to opt in on first launch. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- VIBRATE
- Purpose: To provide haptic feedback when you find words or make incorrect selections
- Your choice: This permission does not access any personal data
We do NOT request:
- Location access
- Camera access
- Microphone access
- Contact access
- Storage access beyond what is needed for the app to function
Third-Party Services
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
The App displays advertisements through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Our app is rated for ages 3 and above. All ads are configured with child-directed treatment enabled and maximum ad content rating set to G (General Audiences). Only non-personalized, family-safe ads are served. Google may collect anonymous identifiers to serve ads. Google’s data practices are governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
You can manage ad preferences through your device settings.
Firebase Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. This includes:
- Gameplay events (puzzles started, completed, hints used)
- Session duration and frequency
- Device type and operating system
- Country/region (derived from IP address — IP is not stored)
This data is aggregated and anonymous. It helps us understand how players interact with the game so we can improve the experience. Firebase Analytics is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Firebase Crashlytics
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports. When the app crashes, the following is sent:
- Device model and OS version
- App version and build number
- Stack trace and app state at the time of crash
This data contains no personal information and is used solely to identify and fix bugs.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
We use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications. When you opt in to notifications:
- A device token is generated and stored by Firebase
- We may send notifications about daily puzzles, streak reminders, and free coins.
- No personal information is associated with the token
You can revoke notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
Ad Content
The App is directed at children (ages 3+). All advertisements are configured to comply with Google’s Families Policy:
- Child-directed treatment is enabled
- Only G-rated (General Audiences) ads are served
- Non-personalized ads only
- Sensitive ad categories (dating, gambling, alcohol, adult content) are blocked
We do not control the specific ads served by Google, but our configuration ensures only family-safe content is eligible to be displayed.
In-App Purchases
The App offers optional in-app purchases (coin packs) through the Google Play Store. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store payment information. Google Play’s privacy policy governs these transactions. Parents can restrict in-app purchases using Google Play parental controls.
Data Storage
All game progress (completed puzzles, coins, streaks, hints used) is stored locally on your device only. This data:
- Never leaves your device (except anonymous analytics events described above)
- Is not backed up to our servers
- Is deleted when you uninstall the App
Data Retention
- Analytics data: Retained by Firebase for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted
- Crash reports: Retained by Firebase for 90 days
- Push notification tokens: Active as long as the app is installed; automatically invalidated upon uninstall
Children’s Privacy
Word Search Quest is suitable for all ages (3+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
The App:
- Does not require personal information to use
- Does not contain social features or chat
- Contains only word puzzle content suitable for all ages
- Offers optional in-app purchases (parental controls can restrict this via Google Play)
- Displays only family-safe, child-directed advertisements
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your information:
- Right to Access: Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access
- Right to Deletion: Simply uninstall the App to remove all local data. Anonymous analytics data cannot be linked back to you.
- Right to Opt-Out: Disable notifications in your device settings; manage ad preferences through your device’s ad settings.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the App:
- No personal data is transmitted or stored on our servers
- All game progress is stored locally on your device
- Third-party services (Firebase, AdMob) use industry-standard encryption for data in transit
International Users
The App is available worldwide. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of anonymous data to countries where our third-party service providers (Google) operate, including the United States.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know:
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not collect personal information beyond what third-party services automatically collect in anonymous form
EU/UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom:
- We do not process personal data
- Firebase and AdMob may collect anonymous data as data controllers governed by Google’s privacy policy
- You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
